At Crossing Bridges, we have the privilege of seeing our students learn and grow every day. We always want to find ways to share some of their stories with you, in the words of their family and friends.
Crossing Bridges has been such a blessing to my family. It has been amazing to see the great benefit it has had on my 4-year-old grandson, Roarke. He has Perthes Disease which prevents the blood from getting to top of the bone of his leg. The bone was breaking off and his leg was getting worse. He was in quite a bit of pain. The activities he can do is limited; he's not even supposed to run or jump. There was talk of him potentially needing a body cast and maybe surgery. It was at that point we decided to try Crossing Bridges in hopes the horse therapy would help strengthen his leg. We had some fear it could cause the bone to break more but hoped for the best. He has been doing horse therapy since summer of 2017 and the results have been amazing.
About 2 months after starting equine therapy he went to Doernbecher Children's Hospital for his regular x-ray. The doctor was pleased because the bone hadn't broken off any more. We got great news, no need for a body cast or surgery. Three months later he had another x-ray. This time the bone not only hadn't gotten worse, but got better. We thank Crossing Bridges for the great progress. It has given him the physical therapy he has needed, strengthening his leg and increasing his range of motion. We know it's the horse therapy that has made a difference because that is the only thing that has changed for Roarke since he started riding each week. Roarke loves the horses and looks forward to each of his lessons. Thanks so much for making such a difference in a little boy’s life. - Grandma Tawnya |
